This puppet represents the character of Baladewa (Baladeva), a king in Hindu epic Mahabharata performed in the Javanese 'wayang kulit' or leather shadow puppet theatre tradition. In the Javanese telling, Baladewa, King of Mandura, is the elder brother of Krishna, and an ally of the Kauravas who fought against the Pandavas.
His face is of a Satria (noble) character with a fine pointed nose. His head is looking straight forward and the red color indicates a passionate nature. His stance is with the feet wide apart indicating action
