The origins of the beads in this necklace are mixed. The bronze bead in the center and the two plain bronze beads towards the end come from Sumatra and are very old. Once upon a time, they were very numerous, but now, they are quite rare. To date, no one has described their archaeological origins, but I believe that they were sewn onto jackets to make a form of armor and may be over 1000 years old. The pale translucent beads are old, too, but I am unsure of their origin. The silver beads are both new and vintage. Towards one end is a splendid, drawn Mutisalah bead.
